America's Nesting Trend Inspires New Valentine's Day Gift: The Love Throwb(R)
by Anonymous
An uncertain economy and the threat of war are driving many Americans to insulate themselves within their home cocoons, according to the latest reports by the International Housewares Association.
Karen Sack, a Retail Analyst for Standard and Poor, predicts that consumer appetite for home-related merchandise should continue unabated as Americans choose to spend more time at home with family members following the events of 9/11.
"The nesting trend is creating a new trend in interior design that calls for functional, long-lasting home products that are also stylish. I call it ‘func-chic'," says inventor and President of The Original Throwb Co. Michael Denofrio. "Since flowers end up in the waste can and chocolate ends up on your waistline, I decided to design a Valentine's Day gift with a bit more substance and style."
Denofrio, a veteran New York fashion designer and interior decorator, originally created the Throwb(R) to help his friend, Gary Herb, battle the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Lying under a throw blanket to combat the chills, Herb found it difficult to remain covered while trying to read a book or drink a cup of coffee. Denofrio solved the problem by incorporating sleeves that allowed Herb to remain covered while having his hands free.
Rosie O'Donnell featured the Throwb(R) ($49.95) on her show, declaring, "It's catching on, the Throwb. Well, it's a great idea." A portion of each sale benefits a variety of charities, including Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
To help last-minute Valentine's Day shoppers, The Original Throwb Co. is offering free FedEx Express shipping upgrades. For more information, visit www.throwb.com or call 1-800-350-6318.
